Alternative Worlds / Come As You Are

Alternative Worlds and Come As You Are were two exhibitions in April-May 2025 showcasing work by participants in Mainspring Arts' Creative Wellbeing groups in Kendal and Lancaster.

The groups were open to all neurodivergent adults, offering a chance to connect with other neurodivergent people in the area, have a brew and try guided creative activities in a supportive, fun and relaxed space.

Over six months the groups met for regular art workshops to explore, experiment, make, create, and find community. The exhibitions celebrated the work they created and the process that led to it.

Alternative Worlds, hosted at the Eddington Kendal, was a celebration of sanctuary, solitude, nature, self and alternative ways of being, featuring textiles, sculpture and video.

Come As You Are, hosted at Halton Mill, explored calm, focus, freedom, affirmation, consciousness and community, featuring textiles, lino prints, video and more.

I was the producer and support facilitator for the project, working with lead artist and facilitator Danielle Chappell Aspinwall. The project was funded by the National Lottery Community Fund, Cumbria Community Foundation and the Community Foundation for Lancashire.
